Happy Birthday Miss K - sneak peek {johnson city tn children's photographer}

Miss Kyla made us WORK today, but it was all worth it when I got the card in my computer and looked through the images.  She is soooo adorable.  Are those blue eyes not to die for??  I'm sure anyone who saw me, Kyla's mom and auntie singing, dancing and making animal noises in downtown Johnson City this morning got a kick out of it.  We were all sweating by the end of the session!!  Kyla did great putting up with our craziness though and we got lots of super cute shots (I promise Mom!!).  Happy 1st Birthday Miss Kyla and thanks to her Mama and Auntie for a fun morning!!  Enjoy your sneak peek!

urban ballerina - sneak peek {tri cities tn photographer}

OH. MY. GOSH.  I can't even begin to tell you how much FUN this was... Ever since Jessica contacted me about doing some headshots and fun dance/ballet action shots, I've been looking forward to it.  I met Jessica back when I took pictures for her adorable baby girl, who is no longer a baby anymore!  You can see her cutie pie {HERE}.  When we were getting the session set up Jessica sent me a link to this super artsy and creative project called the ballerina project, you can see it on facebook by clicking {HERE}.  Anyways, I think it's been a while since I've shot just an adult... it was SO easy.  She stood where I told her to stand, I didn't have to chase after her... haha!!  I LOVE shooting kiddos, don't get me wrong - it was just very refreshing to spend the evening with Jessica.  She is so talented and beautiful.  I hope you enjoy looking at these images as much as I do.  If only I could bend my body that way.... Thanks again Jessica!  Enjoy!

Red, White and Cute - sneak peek {johnson city tn photographer}

It touched my heart to watch Katie and Eric with their sweet angel.  I hope Miss Ellianna knows how lucky she is to have such awesome parents!!  She didn't give me too many smiles, but she was such a happy girl - especially for just having surgery a couple days ago!  I'm so happy I was able to meet this family and spend some time with them this evening.  Dad was the most sweet and polite guy I've ever met.  He just returned home from Afghanistan... I can't imagine how happy he must have been to see his beautiful girls.  I love that Mom brought the cutest patriotic outfit I've ever seen for Ellianna... loved it.  Thanks again guys, enjoy your sneak peek!

perfectly sweet - sneak peek {johnson city tn family photographer}

Mama and I tried for this session about a hundred times before finally making it work today.  There were sick kiddos, thunderstorms and both her and I going out of town... You name it.  Well one thing's for sure: there were NO thunderstorms today!  I swear it was at least 100 degrees.  The kiddos were SUCH great sports though and we had fun despite the insane heat and the annoying bugs!!  Seriously - are these not the cutest kids EVER???  I wanted to take them home with me!!!  And they were so sweet too... April is an amazing Mom.  I can tell just from watching her interact with her precious girls.  I don't know how she does it!!  I just loved both her and her girls.  How do I get so lucky to have the coolest clients in the world???

** I also just LOVE when my clients have a similar style to mine.  Aren't the girls outfits adorable (and Mom's too of course)??  LOVED them.  Loved everything (except for the heat).  Enjoy your sneak peek and thanks for a fun session today!!!

the easiest subjects... {east tennessee portrait photographer}

So last week we were at Riverbanks Zoo and Gardens in Columbia, SC.  If you haven't been there - check it out {HERE}, it's definitely one of the coolest zoo's I've been to.  Anyways, they have this huge area full of amazing gardens that go on and on.... we're talking the most gorgeous photography backgrounds you can imagine.  I lugged my huge camera all the way out there planning to capture these amazing pictures of me and my girlfriends kiddos.  These pictures were going to be awesome.  I mean AWESOME.  I should have seen it coming, though.  I should know my kids by now - and should have thought to myself, "What normal kid would want to sit and take pictures at a ZOO?"   So - that leads me to the pictures below.  I brought my camera all that way - I had to take pictures of SOMETHING.  So I took the easy way out and shot some of the beautiful flowers that filled the gardens.

Want to know the thing I love most about flowers?  They don't move when you take a picture of them.  Ha!  So I thought I'd at least share them with you because after all, they really are beautiful.

Baby Rue - sneak peek {Tri Cities TN Newborn Photographer}

Finally!!! A baby girl!!  Don't get me wrong, I love love baby boys just the same, but I feel like I haven't taken pictures of a baby girl in so long - and my prop closet is stock full of headbands, tutu's, pink blankets and more.  So it was fun to get a chance to put it all to good use!  Rue was so sweet and did an amazing job.  For the first 45 minutes or so she just didn't want to go to sleep, but we finally got her good and out and were able to get her into a few poses while she snoozed.  Mom and Dad were so fun to talk with - I felt like we were good friends!!  Congratulations you two and enjoy your sneak peek!!!

malcolm & kerry - sneak peek {Jonesborough TN Photographer}

This was such a special opportunity for me.  Malcolm and Kerry eloped today in downtown Jonesborough.  The only people there besides me were the bride and groom of course, the officiator and a witness.  The weather was amazing - HOT, but I'm not complaining!!!  The ceremony was short and sweet and the officiator was the cutest and kindest man ever.   Afterwards we walked around downtown taking pictures and then the couple took off for a night in Asheville, NC.  I'm so happy for the two of them.  Their love for each other is so obvious and sweet.  I enjoyed spending some time with you two today and hope you enjoy your sneak peek!!

**  This was not a wedding (in terms of sessions) - it was booked as a regular session.  I am no longer shooting weddings at this time, however if you're interested in doing a session (roughly 2 hours) either before or after the big day - it's a great way to get some beautiful shots without the stress and time constraints that usually come with the day of, just contact me!

leah + cody = married {sneak peek} - East Tennessee Photographer

Rain.  Lots of rain.  After an entire day filled with warm overcast weather (a photographer's dream) I pull up to Maple Lane Farm to meet up with Leah and the girls who are getting ready.  Literally the second I parked, it started raining - hard.  So hard that I had to wait a few minutes until it let up enough for me to run to the house!  I was worried about how Leah would be doing considering her sunny outdoor spring wedding wasn't exactly going as planned.  When I saw her she was calm and collected and just said, "I'll be in sitting in Jamaica tomorrow soaking up the sun, so it's okay!"  This should give you a perfect taste of why I think Leah's so awesome.  It was quiet getting ready though as the girls kept looking out the windows every few minutes to check on the rain status.

The ceremony ended up being moved indoors last minute because the weather was so unpredictable.  Luckily, right before the ceremony there was a break in the clouds, so we ran out with a table cloth to use under Leah's dress and got some shots of all the girls.

The ceremony was great - it never fails... I don't think I've been to a wedding yet where I haven't teared up.  I'm such a baby.  But this wedding was a special one for a couple reasons: 1. it's my last one (at least for a very long period of time) and 2. I just can't tell you how much I love Leah and Cody.  After the ceremony we headed back outside to the not-raining-at-the-moment weather to get all the group and family shots.  By the time we finished up with the family pics the weather started getting DARK again and we were officially forced inside when it started raining {again}.

The reception went great and everyone had lots of fun.  Someone ran over and told me there was a rainbow outside, so I grabbed Leah and Cody and they stood in the mist so we could get a few shots.  Talk about a good sign on your wedding day right??  A full ground to ground rainbow - that has to mean something great!

The finale was lots of fun... Leah and Cody ran through a crowd of their friends and family holding sparklers and then headed to Cody's truck where all his buddies followed behind in their trucks (there had to have been at least 8-10 of them) and made some serious noise peeling out on the road.  It was a first for me - but I loved it!!!  Congrats Leah and Cody!!!!  Hope you guys are enjoying the warm weather - enjoy your sneak peek!!!

the G family - sneak peek {johnson city tn family photographer}

Lori called me back in November wanting to book a family session for Christmas cards.  I told her I was completely booked and leaving for California soon.  As I'm telling her all this I could almost hear her disappointment and so I squeezed in a mini session a couple days before I was scheduled to leave for Christmas.  Of course everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong.  It snowed, Miss Ella got really sick, I was swamped with orders and editing and packing and life.... long story short, we never had the session!!!  But amidst all the back and forth emails, texts and calls a friendship blossomed.  It was like I knew this girl from somewhere... and she knew me.  It was meant to be. So months later, FINALLY, FINALLY we got our session.  The lighting was perfect and the weather was amazing.  Miss Ella was all decked out in Matilda Jane, of course Lori Miss Fashionista looked amazing, and don't worry Dad - you looked good too!!  They were all relaxed, happy and real.  It was great.  A big thanks to their awesome friends for coming along to help out too!!!  Thanks G Family and enjoy your sneak peek =)
