what if it all works out?

On 8.11.25 I suddenly and tragically lost my partner, the father of my four babies and the person I’ve built a beautiful life with, to suicide. Something that never in a million years would I have thought could happen. Josh was full of life, love and so much light. While we will never fully understand why this happened, Josh experienced some extremely traumatic experiences in childhood that led to mental health struggles, substance abuse and above all, an underlying never-enoughness that remained a quiet yet consistent shadow throughout his life. I share this with the intention of spreading awareness and understanding, as well as a refusal to contribute to the stigma and shame that often surrounds suicide; a way to honor Josh and the amazing human he was.

Speaking of honor, I believe the best way we can honor Josh and the life he lived is to show ourselves the same kind of love that he extended to everyone else, because the most important relationship we will ever have is the one we have with ourselves. We can honor him (and us!) by making it a relationship filled with love, compassion, forgiveness and intention. We can remember that we are each worthy of every single good thing the world has to offer simply because we exist. It’s not something that must be earned. And if your relationship with yourself isn’t where you’d like it to be yet, it’s never, ever too late to start slowly making changes towards a more loving one. Thank you for helping me spread this message of hope and love. - Brandy
